Planetary Interaction Tutorial

Click to enbiggen

After several hours of scouring the net for a half-comprehensive and up to date tutorial on Planetary Interaction, and failing miserably to find anything, I decided to just jump in and figure it out on my own.

Granted, I've only spent a handful of hours so far messing with it, I've barely begun to scratch the surface of this new feature in the game. I decided to make a recording of the most basic element of setting up a command center, extractors and a processor. Enough to get you started.

I apologize if I've missed anything, but like I said, I am just starting to learn like everyone else. :)

  1. You did a damn sight better than I did. I couldnt even get the command centre set up, but that may have been because of all the planets not being useable?

    Nice vid though... thanks!

  2. Did you see what new skills may be required to use the planetary functions? Would be nice to get the prereqs sorted.

  4. Excellent video, thanks for taking the time in putting this together, it really does help.

Like Blue said above, any word on skills?

  5. Skills aren't a requirement on SiSi right now (probably so people can actually test the functionality)... but it would make sense to require some training, just like everything else.

Haven't done much research on the forums where I am sure they've mentioned it.

  7. Wow, really nice work making such a cool video tutorial for us! Thankx Maeve! And nice as well that you did a bit explaining, so that we don't "just" see a pointer flying over the screen doing "stuff" but get an explanation what is going on as well!

  8. Nice video, using PI (v3) was a frustrating experience for me. The UI is really not very polished at the moment (damn submit button!!).

Worth mentioning how you get the PCCs in the first place (eg. redeeming via the ESC menu)

  10. @ Joe - ya I chose to leave that out, as of right now, its pretty obvious at log in you have a gift box on SiSi with your PCCs, where it asks which hangar to deliver them to. I figured if people actually log in, that bit should be fairly self explanatory. ;-) So I just loaded one of each PCC into my viator and head out looking for a decent planet. :)

There is still much I am still trying to figure out, for instance, I know my instruction on the processing plant is flawed. That is something I am still trying to figure out. Cant seem to get anything to input INTO the processor to create the items for output. Maybe for a future video. :)

Thanks everyone for your kind words! It is encouraging and means a lot.

  11. Very nice job. I suppose the only way low sec pirates will be able to catch those fetching their goods is to probe them out--assuming they sit there for long enough to be probed.

How long do you reckon it takes for the storage facilities in the infrastructure to fill up? In other words, how often might someone have to go fetch harvested stuff?

This was a spreadsheet I found out about while chatting online on Singularity. I hope you find it as useful as I have so far.

  16. So is all planets going to be open for people to planetary interact with, or only low-sec and below are the only ones you can interact with?
